  2. Instructions to Create a Morphing-Sequence

  5. Prerequisites:
  6. - Installed Version of QuickSilver ReTouch 2.00.
  7. - Installed Runtime Version of Video for Windows
  8.   (VfW) to view the created AVI-file.
  9.   (Obtainable through CompuServe "Go CIS:MSL" or
  10.    through InterNet "microsoft.com")
  11.  
  12. 1) Start ReTouch and open the image files 'bmwl.jpg'
  13.    and 'bmwt.jpg' (via dialog |File|Open|).
  14.  
  15. 2) Make sure that the Morphing module is visible
  16.    (checkmark in the menu entry |View|Morphing|).
  17.  
  18. 3) With the checkboxes 'Source Image' and 'Destination
  19.    Image' you first select 'bmwl.jpg' with the mouse
  20.    as Source and then 'bmwt.jpg' as Destination of the
  21.    Morphing sequence.

  23. 4) Now with the Load button of the Control Points group
  24.    (right near 'Insert') you load the list of control
  25.    points 'bmw.con'. Control points consist as pairs of
  26.    point coordinates, which are projected from Source
  27.    to Destination image and hereby cause the contortion
  28.    of Morphing and Warping.

  30. 5) In the edit box 'Frames', you can set the number of
  31.    intermediate pictures (e.g. 7). Supplementary in the
  32.    'Morph Settings' (the button right near 'Frames'),
  33.    the checkboxes 'Apply Interpolation' and 'Apply Image
  34.    Filter' should be marked. Although this setting
  35.    significantly increases computation time, it visibly
  36.    enhances the morphing result.

  38. 6) In the ToolBox Window, select the image filter 'Enhance
  39.    Detail'. You can also select this type in the dialog
  40.    |Image|Filter| (You can abort the filter process or
  41.    erase the filtered image, it depends only on the active
  42.    filter.

  44. 7) To record the Morphing process, you mark the checkbox
  45.    'Rec' and choose an AVI file name in the appertaining
  46.    dialog.
  47.    - Now you can start the Morph sequence with a click on
  48.      the 'Morph' checkbox -
  49.    The calculation can take some time depending on the
  50.    computer equipment; in order to work further, the
  51.    calculation runs therefore in a window in the background.

  53. 8) After completion of the first sequence, you can now reverse
  54.    the time direction by choosing the image 'bmwt.jpg' as
  55.    Source Image and start the calculation again.

  57. 9) To view the completed video clip, the still open recording
  58.    file must be closed (with a second click on the 'Rec' field)!
  59.    - Thereafter you can run the Media Player and select
  60.      |Device|Video for Windows| in order to start the
  61.      'bmw.avi' clip.
  62.      (If you mark the radio button 'Auto Repeat' in the
  63.      |Edit|Options|, you can view [Play] a cyclical video).
  64.    - You can also playback the clip directly in ReTouch
  65.      (in dialog |File|Open| or with Drag&Drop from the
  66.      file manager).
