[HDNG]INTRODUCTION:[EHDNG][PARA][GRPH]S2[EGRPH][STAT][BULL] Recent successes: football; hockey; netball.[ESTAT][PARA][ITAL]Sheffield hosted the 1991 World Student Games, leaving the city with some of the best sporting facilities in the country and one of the largest debts. These don't belong to the University although they do use them regularly. The Union co-ordinates sporting clubs and funds them well. The region (the Peak District) is well-known for climbing and mountaineering. [EITAL][HDNG]SPORTS FACILITIES:[EHDNG][PARA][ITAL]The University relies heavily on the hire of local amenities[EITAL] (see [ULNE]Sheffield University[EULNE]), but they also have a fair few facilities of their own for a range of indoor and outdoor sports, including a [ITAL]magnificent [EITAL]indoor climbing wall, 20 acres of playing fields and 2 sports halls.
