[ESTAT][PARA][ITAL]Whilst Salford may not be nationally famous for its sporting [PARA]record, it can boast a pretty good level of facilities and a certain [PARA]understated success in quite a range of activities. There's also a [PARA]good level of involvement, although there's a charge for many of [PARA]the amenities if not used through one of the clubs. [EITAL][PARA][PARA][ITAL][HDNG]SPORTS FACILITIES:[EHDNG][EITAL][PARA]There's a leisure centre right next to the Union building for indoor [PARA]sports including a gym, sports hall, multigym, 6 squash courts [PARA]and a snooker room. [ITAL]Oh, and the best student climbing wall in the[PARA]country.[EITAL] On the campus, there are playing fields and all-weather [PARA]pitches. There's a local swimming pool a mile from the University[PARA]and in Peel Park, where the campus is based, there's a bowling [PARA]green. The Union employs an Outdoor Pursuits Officer who [PARA]takes responsibility for encouraging involvement in the kinds of [PARA]sports which make cocoa popular, like canoeing, caving, [PARA]mountaineering and so on.[HDNG]SPORTING CLUBS:[EHDNG][PARA]Rugby League; Pot holing; Snooker; Weightlifting.[HDNG]ATTRACTIONS:[EHDNG][PARA]In addition to those in Manchester (see [ULNE]University of Manchester[EULNE]),[PARA]there's Salford Rugby League.[PARA][PARA]
