[ITAL]Most notably, there's 'Casablanca', (ú2) a [PARA]veritable grotto of classic cuts and techno funk, and a downstairs[PARA]bar that makes the black hole of Calcutta look deserted, where [PARA]artists, actors and playwrights gather to eat chips and drink beer [PARA]in a formerly illegal hang-out. Best of all, in Liverpool - unlike [PARA]London where the twentysomethings are forever on a quest for [PARA]the most happening spot - everyone has somewhere to go [PARA]whatever their musical tastes. [ITAL] It's also worth dropping in on the [PARA]many other smaller venues and clubs to catch the vibe, such as [PARA]the Lomax, where the Fall recently snarled. Bands play [PARA]upstairs. The Haigh Venue (500) pumps it up thrice weekly. The[PARA]Haigh is the place to be for students who can't stand eating alone[EITAL],[PARA]with [ITAL]reasonably-priced [EITAL]food, especially pizzas. Hardy's has a [PARA]coffee shop called Bogart's, [ITAL]with sullen waitresses[EITAL]. Alternatively, [PARA]there's the University cafeteria.
