  3. This is a small variation of Xmodem that sends blocks that are 1
  4. Kilobyte (1024 bytes) in size. This protocol is still mistakenly
  5. called 'Ymodem-g' by many programs, but people are gradually moving
  6. over to the proper name.

  8. G-Xmodem-1K is meant for error-free channels such as error
  9. correcting modems or null modem cable links between two computers. It
  10. achieves great speed by sending blocks one after another without
  11. waiting for acknowledgment from the receiver. Because of this
  12. however, it can not re-send blocks in case of errors (and thus the
  13. need for an error-free link). If an error is detected by the
  14. receiver, the transfer is aborted.

  16. G-Xmodem-1K is capable of approximately 99-100% of the maximum
  17. theoretical transfer rate.
