- The File Conversion Window is used to convert sound data files stored by
- other music software manufacturers to the Sound Quest file format.
- To create a conversion from scratch is a two part process and once the
- conversion has been created it can be saved to disk for later use.
-
- To make the conversion, select open from the 'Files' menu and select the
- conversion file to be used. The conversion file should load the Sound Quest
- driver along with a macro which performs the actual conversion. Once this
- information is loaded, select 'Convert a File' to select a single file to
- convert. The converted file will be stored under the same name with a '.SQ'
- extension. If an entire directory contains the identical type of file and
- you wish to convert all of the files in the directory, the
- 'Convert a Directory' option can be chosen.
-
- To create your own conversion file (for those of you who really have it
- together!), load the Sound Quest driver supporting type of data to be
- converted into the File Conversion Window. Use either 'Load Driver from Disk'
- or 'Load Driver from List' to load the currently selected driver in the Driver
- List Window. Next, Enter a macro which will load the old file as a Sound
- Quest file. Important relevant Macro commands are 'DR n m' (Disk Read) and
- 'DS n' (Disk Seek). Finally, an old data file can be loaded into a SysX View
- Window for analysis in creating the conversion macro. While possible, this
- file should NOT be saved as a SQ data file.
