  3.                          Operation of the SPEED TEST

  5. When typing during a session the clock starts timing your responses when you
  6. type the first letter.
  7.  
  8. While typing you can optionally switch a beeper on and off with the ! key which
  9. will sound the bell everytime you miss a character.
  10.  
  11. When you miss-type a character you must retype it correctly before you can
  12. continue the test.  (There is no extra penalty imposed for missed characters).

  14. You may abort a session early by hitting the ESC key at any time but if you do
  15. this your speed will not be calculated.

  17. At the end of the real test (as opposed to the warm up) your results will be
  18. written to a file called results.ttx

  27.  
  28. There are several styles of text on which you can be tested. They are stored
  29. on disk as ordinary text files and have the extension ".ttx"
  30.  
  31. It is possible to edit these files should you wish to change them. A special
  32. option called custom has been provided which matches the file custom.ttx
  33. By editing this file you can add a totally new style of text to the list.
