-
- With the emphasis on *government* rather that *Tories* you might escape
- the patronism; *no* government of *any* colour behaves very
- altruistically. Each looks after its own voters. Blaming everything
- on the Tories is like lashing out at the thing nearest to you. I am
- just old enough to remember having my share of problems caused by
- Labour; such as more-or-less not being able to eat for 17 weeks and
- nearly having our home reposessed because the close-minded union
- *******s (substitute own word B^>) where my dad had just gone to work
- (closed shop) wouldn't let him work (blackleg) and wouldn't let him
- draw strike pay (only just joined, so **** off mate). Or the fact that
- (much earlier) my mum was ill in France (and pregnant with me) and my
- mum and dad couldn't get back because the exchange controls prevented
- them getting enough money out of the UK to get an earlier trip home...
- And of course they couldn't pay French medical bills either. Which
- government lifted exchange controls?
-
- So let's avoid slagging Tories or Labour in this simplistic way. Please.
-
- (Or use uk.politics, where followups to this are directed. So I'll
- read it for a bit.)
-
- You may remind me of this when under the next Labour government I
- blame them for everything. B^> B^>
