- he thinks its phony, why does he think it takes such great mettle to do it?

- I think that questioning Darwinism is a good thing, it will enhance our
- understanding of its power, and help us know when it is aplicable and when
- it is not. Steven Jay Gould is a good example of someone who (because of
- his competence and knowlege about biology and paleontology) can simultaneously
- question and affirm Darwinism. This process resulted in a better
- understanding of one of the mechanisms of evolution (punctuated equilibria).
- So far at least, Dr. Johnson is not a good example of someone who is able to
- do that.
