  24. he thinks its phony, why does he think it takes such great mettle to do it?

  26. I think that questioning Darwinism is a good thing, it will enhance our 
  27. understanding of its power, and help us know when it is aplicable and when
  28. it is not.  Steven Jay Gould is a good example of someone who (because of
  29. his competence and knowlege about biology and paleontology) can simultaneously
  30. question and affirm Darwinism.  This process resulted in a better
  31. understanding of one of the mechanisms of evolution (punctuated equilibria).
  32. So far at least, Dr. Johnson is not a good example of someone who is able to
  33. do that.
