  30. This is an incorrect characterization of the Bush administration's
  31. policy on fetal tissue research.  There was no ban on fetal
  32. tissue research as the paper suggests.  Rather, the Bush 
  33. administration prohibited the federal *funding* of fetal tissue
  34. research which used the remains from *elective* abortions.  
  35. Researchers could obtain federal funding for research which
  36. used the fetal remains from *spontaneous* abortions.
