  20. I contacted the DAR a year or two ago looking for more information on
  21. an ancestor (Peter Hall) whose grave was marked by them many years
  22. ago.  They replied that they had no information on him (though I found
  23. a reference to the grave in one of their publications) and that no one
  24. had ever joined the DAR based on that individual.  My impression was
  25. that local chapters sometimes place these markers if they feel they
  26. have sufficient evidence to do so, but not necessarily because any of
  27. their members are related to the veteran.
