  15. More on Franklin, from Encyclopedia Brittanica:

  17. Surprisingly, the encyclopedia had *very* little to say on the subject.
  18. There was no listing for the state of Franklin, and nothing about in the
  19. history of Tennessee.  I finally found out a meager amount by looking up John
  20. Sevier (the "governor" of the state of Franklin).

  22. The state of Franklin existed from 1784 to 1788.  Eventually, it dissolved
  23. itself and became part of the new state of Tennessee (in 1792?).  That's
  24. basically all I could find.
