- There's a book out: "Fraternity Gang Rape" by Peggy Reeves Sanday,
- which goes into great detail about fraternity initiation. The author
- interviewed fraternity members and former members on initiation
- practices. The ones described are very frightening. Extrememly
- misogynistic, very homophobic while at the same time incorporating
- rituals of a homosexual nature. She puts forth some theories on how
- these rituals lead to a very frightening misogynistic group mentality in
- the fraternities that employ them.
- Please note: I said "in the fraternities that use these kinds of
- rituals." I'm not saying that *all* fraternities are misogynistic or
- use these rites, but many do use them.
