- Well, I've been in soc.bi for a while and I think it's time to
- gracefully bow out for an extended leave -- I still have my
- cliveg@cix.co.uk account if anyone wants to contact me and indeed I
- may be back in the near future, but I've been downloading masses of
- news messages every day for the past three months and just not
- reading them. So I guess it's time to have a breather.
-
- Thanks to all the people I've met via this group but I feel it's
- really time to move on for two reasons:
-
- 1: I get frustrated at the what seems like the same old questions
- being asked -- this is an important service and I'm not attacking
- soc.bi, it answers many questions asked by old hands and newbies
- alike and I want to see this service continue and I will continue to
- publicize and support it wherever possible -- but for a while now it
- seems to me to have just gone around in circles... perhaps this is
- the limitations of a Usenet newsgroup -- perhaps it's *my*
- limitations as a reader. I dunno. I've got lots of other things to
- do. I will rejoin when I've had a break.
-
- 2: (more importantly) I get frustrated at the *amount* of stuff here
- I'm just not interested in. I now have to pay for online time and
- download time. More importantly I feel that the signal-to-noise ratio
- is too high (note this is a personal feeling).
-
- I've decided to start the ball rolling about officially changing my
- name. I'm also "out" as abused and will continue to write about
- Bisexual issues regarding sexual abuse, I will still make a noise and
- kick up seven kinds of hell when I think survivors (especially
- bisexual ones) are being marginalized and I will still shout about
- all those issues and be a pest even in soc.bi -- so if people start
- writing about "sexual abuse" then a wee message *should* tell me and
- I'll be leaping into the fray. Pests R Us. :) :) :) :) (Hmmmm, I say
- "should" because this *is* UNIX we're talking about here).
-
- It's been fun. I don't suppose my life as a rabid and "out" Bisexual
- will end as I've got friends in Bristol, Cambridge and many, many
- friends in Edinburgh where I hope to eventually live -- and I'll
- continue to be part of the Edinburgh Bi scene -- as soon as I get my
- life as a freelance writer up to speed and my book out of the door (
- to those of you who know about the book -- yes it's still "getting
- there"). Keep in contact via E-mail if you want to... and I'll see
- you at all the best parties [hint].
-
- "I'll be back."
