- You are one of the lucky ones. I hadn't taken a bus for about 5 years
- when I decided to try it out this last Christmas. (No, not Christmas
- day, the day before). It will probably be at *least* 5 years before I
- take a Metro bus again.
-
- I found myself at the Seattle Center when I wanted to go home. I pulled
- out my trusty quarter and called Metro to find out route information to
- get home. I live in Totem Lake (near Bothell/Woodinville). Not more
- than a half mile from 405, and within a mile of several major arterials.
- I had to feed more quarters into the phone while the metronerd tried to
- figure out how to get me home. It seems that Metro only runs direct
- routes to my neck of the woods during morning and afternoon rush hour.
-
- The route I had to take was: Take a bus from Center to bus tunnel.
- Transfer to bus to downtown Bellevue. Transfer to bus to Totem Lake.
- Walk home. Travel time: a little over two hours. I can drive my car,
- park, and walk to a function at the Coliseum in 30 minutes! Even in
- heavy traffic it doesn't take me more than an hour.
-
- Mind you, Totem Lake isn't exactly a rural area.
