- This Friday we are pleased to have Professor Savitch as our
- speaker.
-
- Professor Savitch will speak on:
-
- ``Automatic Classification of Words in Unprocessed Text''
-
-
- ABSTRACT
-
-
- I will discuss work I am doing with Peter Bensch and David Hutches
- on programs for classifying lexical items in unprocessed (before
- the programs see it) English text. You can think of the categories
- as being grammatical categories like nouns, verbs, etc., but the
- classifications are actually much finer than that. I will contrast
- two different approaches, with differing computational and linguistics
- strengths.
