- I also stopped smoking 8 years ago, and I do have dreams in which I am still
- smoking. But they do not involve any craving for cigarettes, and the dreams
- seem to relive more the disgust I felt when I still smoked than anything else.
- Usually, about halfway through these dreams I start thinking about whether I
- actually quit smoking or not, then I wake up, and am relieved to note that I
- quit 8 years ago.
-
- By the way, I did experience the craving for cigarettes occasionally within the
- first couple of years of quitting. But now cigarette smoke really disgusts me,
- and I can't imagine (consciously) why I ever smoked.
-
- Based on what I have seen both as smoker, and as physician, I belive that
- nicotine is the most powerful addiction there is. Worse than heroin, no doubt.
- I have had patients who quit many things, and they all say that quitting smoking
- was the hardest. I think that the people who are responsible for making it
- difficult to smoke in the workplace, etc., should have a little heart. I am
- sure glad that I quit before the current policital climate regarding smoking.
