  18. Wasn't it 1927?  No matter; it was convincing.  What I've never understood
  19. was why towards the end of his life he backed away from these early
  20. findings almost totally, attributing scores of things to analogy that he
  21. had once -- rightly, I think -- connected with laryngeals.
