- I watched at length the debate on the latest large federal transportation
- bill on C-SPAN. It's been a while so I don't remember the details, but as
- I recall the taxes collected for the interstate system were redistributed
- with the idea that states that had little infrastructure at the time (1950s?)
- would get most of the money first (primarily western states) and the other
- states would have to wait their turn ... I would imagine this is why Georgia
- is a net donor state. Of course it probably will take far longer than
- originally envisioned, but at some time Georgia should become a net recipient
- state.
