  19. you are getting into a very stickey area on who can install a AAD.
  20. Rigging innovations is correct in that they do not provide authorization
  21. for field approval of the cypres on the talon. They do however for the
  22. sse mk12000 which is really probably a more complicated installation.
  23.  The FAA's advisory circular AC105-2c para 8 says in part that the installation
  24. of an AAD on a certificated parachute (your reserve) is an alteration if the
  25. maufacturer does not provide instructions for the installation. (RI does not
  26. for the cypress.) In order to get it approved, the person doing the alteration
  27. must get it approved by the FAA (and the guy who approved it in the faa most
  28. likely wouldn't know what he was doing).
  29.  I am not putting down the people who want to install it. I would feel very
  30. comfortable letting them do it on my rig or my wife's. I'm just trying to
  31. point out some of the legal points (my interpetation)
  32.  The PIA is attempting to deal with this problem had have published a
  33. interesting ADD/RSL Survey report. Its Technical Bulletin TB-260 of which
  34. i am looking at the draft copy of Aug 10 1992. Ray should have a copy of it.
  35. Ask him if you can see it and AC105-2c. Then make your decision.
