- Several companies offer wireless 'through the water' communication
- systems. There is for example the Aquacom from Ocean Technology Systems
- and the USC-101 from life technologies.
- I wonder how reliable a communication path can be achieved with this
- equipment.
-
- Is speech distortion a problem?
- is a full mask necessary or are the half masks sufficient?
- What range do you really get, how dependent is it on sea-state?
- where should the transducer be mounted, is body-shielding a problem?
- any problems with communicating in kelp forest, through thermo-clines?
- how much better are SSB systems over AM systems?
-
- I know the theoretical answers to these questions, but would be interested
- in hearing from anybody who has real-life experience with these units.
-
- thanks,
- marco
