  18.     Certainly the history of Ethiopian marathoning is more 
  19. illustrious than Kenyan marathoning, at least until Wakiihuru came
  20. on the scene.  My recollection is that 10-15 years ago the 
  21. Ethiopians were dominating the World Cross Country championships the
  22. way the Kenyans are now.  On the track, the overall performance of
  23. Kenyans has always been somewhat stronger than that of the Ethiopians
  24. (but the Ethiopian record is much stronger than the American!).
