  13. I believe Bjorklund ran 4:05 his senior year; the best HS time in the nation
  14. that year (Prefontaine was #2).  He and Mike Slack hooked up at the state meetand went through the half in something like 1:55 (OUCH!).  Slack ended up 
  15. running something like 3:38 a few years after graduating from North Dakota
  16. State U.  There were a lot of promising HS distance runners in the 70's,
  17. but I think Danielson was the last to break 4:00 while still in high school.
