- Well Mark, one thing you can do is to start scouting all the local
- sporting goods stores. I don't mean the XXX-Mart stores, but the
- smaller ones where the Real Hunters (tm) frequent on Saturdays when
- the season is out and try to get in on some conversations about
- hunting. Maybe you'll get lucky and find one that has group of regulars
- that will answer some specific questions you have. Another thing you
- can probably do is to get back out into the field and observe deer
- while "pretending" to hunt with a camera or camcorder. This way you
- can learn more and get good film/pictures at the same time. This will
- also allow you to really learn the areas you plan to hunt this fall.
- You can try things like grunt calls and watch the deers reactions.
- But, to be truthful, most still hunting tactics are learned "on the job"
- since it is done alone. As for as courses go, there are some. You just
- have to watch for them being advertised in the larger cities in your
- area. In SC, they have several weekend hunting shows that feature demo,
- lectures, and displays for hunting gear in two or three cities.
-
-
- Good Luck.
