- Besides the new MGM Grand, the Luxor (pyramid) and Treasure Island,
- there's also something weird going up near Vegas World.. looks
- like 2 or 3 very tall tower type things leaning into each other.
- No idea what it is but cranes were working on it when I was in
- town during CES. There's also another one called The Caribbean
- going up on one of those streets that runs perpendicular to
- the Strip and Paradise Road (Paradise is the street where the
- Hilton and the Convention Center live).. there's a pirate ship
- there too with torn sails on it, and the Caribbean sign says
- "Hotel - [blank]" like the word "casino" was there but they've
- covered it up. I was in Vegas last November too for COMDEX and
- this Caribbean construction looked in January the same beginning
- state it was in November.. so like uh maybe whoever is behind the
- thing can't get a casino license and halted construction or
- something.
-
- Anyone else ever notice that what is now the San Remo (next door to
- the Trop), used to be the Polynesian and before that was The Treasury?
- And each change of name also brought a complete remodelling too.
-
- Vegas is a wacky place, esp. if one's trips there are less than
- say once a year. Entire sections of town can change radically
- between visits.. stuff you saw last year not only isn't there any
- more but has been torn down and replaced with something entirely
- different.
