  13. I live in eastern Massachussetts and have never done any contradancing west of
  14. Worcester, MA.  I was speaking with someone last night who dances regularly in
  15. the Pioneer Valley area in western MA (Amherst, Greenfield) and she mentioned
  16. how some dancers were upset because a caller from Boston kept calling squares
  17. at a dance out there.  She said dancers in the western part of the state prefer
  18. contras *only* at their dances.  This is exactly opposite what most of the
  19. dances in the east are like, where squares are called quite often.

  21. Is there really such strong regional preferences at dances like this?  Sounded
  22. very strange to me.
