  12. I've been in rainforest with an experienced birder who considered that
  13. he could bring birds closer to within seeing distance by making sounds
  14. which I can only describe as somewhere between squeaking and kissing
  15. noises with his lips on the back of his hand. Now someone has given me
  16. for Xmas an Audubon Bird Call, a little wooden implement which can be
  17. made to emit extremely birdlike sounds, though none is a replica of any
  18. real bird call.

  20. Do either or both of these techniques work? Do they ever bring birds
  21. closer so they can be seen, or seen better?
