- I've been in rainforest with an experienced birder who considered that
- he could bring birds closer to within seeing distance by making sounds
- which I can only describe as somewhere between squeaking and kissing
- noises with his lips on the back of his hand. Now someone has given me
- for Xmas an Audubon Bird Call, a little wooden implement which can be
- made to emit extremely birdlike sounds, though none is a replica of any
- real bird call.
-
- Do either or both of these techniques work? Do they ever bring birds
- closer so they can be seen, or seen better?
