  27. If you mean it has influenced 'the vast improvements of aerodynamics' via presence,
  28. then this is true, but to attribute the concept of its approach to aerodynamics to
  29. Ford is at best, wishful thinking.  Audi (5000) had the same basic shape a full 2 model
  30. years before the Taurus appeared on the market.

  32. I was thoroughly amused by the ad campaign for the Taurus implying that they had 
  33. developed something new, touting a "Fully faired-in underbody for better aerodynamics!"
  34.  
  35. Citroen had this with the DS19 back in 1956! (along with a and a drag coeficient of 0.34!) 
  36. SAAB 92/93/95/96/99 all had this too! (granted the 95/96 were 2 doors).

  38. The Taurus is a fine automobile - but it has brought nothing really new to automotive 
  39. technology - Ford has simply borrowed from the experiments of the more ambitious,
  40. automakers (most of whom are in Europe and Japan as implied by Ken above).
