- Here's something I did after getting a ticket in NV for going 87 in a 65 zone.
- I called the clerk of the county that I got the ticket in and asked the name
- and address of the judge who handles traffic citations. I then wrote to the
- judge stating something like:
-
- Loose paraphrase follows:
- "I realize that I was driving fast but the road conditions were
- excellent and the traffic was moving fast. Although I broke the
- law, may I suggest that my traffic citation be converted into a citation
- for waste of energy? This would still penalize me for my violation, but
- would not adversely affect my insurance rates, which would go up $250/yr
- over the next three years."
-
- Worked like a charm. Although I had to pay a $110 ticket, it didn't go on
- my record.
