  29. Here's something I did after getting a ticket in NV for going 87 in a 65 zone.
  30. I called the clerk of the county that I got the ticket in and asked the name
  31. and address of the judge who handles traffic citations.  I then wrote to the 
  32. judge stating something like:

  34. Loose paraphrase follows:
  35. "I realize that I was driving fast but the road conditions were
  36. excellent and the traffic was moving fast.  Although I broke the
  37. law, may I suggest that my traffic citation be converted into a citation 
  38. for waste of energy?  This would still penalize me for my violation, but 
  39. would not adversely affect my insurance rates, which would go up $250/yr
  40. over the next three years."

  42. Worked like a charm.  Although I had to pay a $110 ticket, it didn't go on 
  43. my record.
