- I own a "regular" '93 probe. I have driven both mine and the GT. I have
- also logged a few miles on my sister's 91 Probe. Here's _my_ take on what
- I've been reading (IMHO):
-
- The older probes (GT and regular) don't hold a candle to the new ones in
- terms of handling and power. I used to think that they were a "toy"
- sports car... They've definitely moved up a notch or two. No torque-
- steer in the regular or the GT that I drove.
-
- The regular probe does handle phenominally (I wonder how long before the
- struts loosten up...) I've had several people in my car for test drives
- who have replied "if I did that with MY car, I'd end up on the roof!"
- The GT is pretty stiff, but it depends upon whether you like a rough ride
- or not. (BTW, I took my probe for a 7 hour, non-stop road trip and I was
- very comfortable when I finally got out. No backaches... quite nice.
- 'twas also nice to get about 37 MPG for a change)
-
- The only 2 complaints I have with my probe: power at 65 MPH for passing is
- only so-so. You get adequate to pass, but doesn't compare to my Mustang.
- The other is the location of the @#$@#$ oil filter. It's @#$@#$ impossible
- to change without getting the car up on lifts of some kind. "I can see it,
- but I can't get a wrench on it..." Oh well, I guess I'll just have to resign
- myself to taking my car to the Marx Bros.(TM) Oil & Lube from now on :(
-

-
- p.s. The probe was actually my "compromise" car... I was sure I would be
- disappointed. I'm surely NOT disappointed after 8000 miles.
