  12.     I auditioned the JBL 3800 last year and I found them to be bass-deficient.
  13. They just can't take much power before they break-up.  At low volume, they were
  14. fine, but turn it up past about 11:00 and they scream.  Don't be fooled by the 
  15. name.  JBL makes some amazing stuff, but they also make crap, and the 3800 is of 
  16. the latter category.  Trade either the speakers or the receiver and replace 
  17. them/it.  Or live with it - not much else to do.  Good luck.
