  13. I need some information on what a software technician might be expected
  14. to do and get paid.  I believe that Portland Community College has, or
  15. had, a 2-year program certifying software technicians.  Are there any
  16. other such programs in the Northwest?

  18. What I'd like to find out is,
  19.     - What education and training I should look for (could expect)
  20.       in a software technician,
  21.     - What sorts of job duties are typical,
  22.     - How much supervision vs. independent decision making is typical,
  23.     - What a typical pay structure is for such a person,
  24.     - What such a person's career aspirations - or recommended career path -
  25.       might be.

  27. Is there anyone out there - perhaps a graduate of the PCC program, or
  28. someone who has hired or taught SW technicians, that has this
  29. information or could give me a pointer to someone who has?  A phone
  30. number to the PCC program, if it still exists, would also be
  31. appreciated.
