- Recently a friend asked this question: She has two children's books
- completed. Would a publisher hire the illustrator and arrange for
- the artwork, or should she do so.
-
- I suggested finding an illustrator willing to let the publisher
- decide whether to use the artwork, and pay them separately. That
- way the author would not have to shell out $$ to pay for artwork that
- the publisher might not want to use.
-
- My first manuscript only had one illustration necessary, that being a
- map of the island where most of the action takes place. I provided
- photocopies of maps from a tourist flyer as examples.
-
- Any advice is appeciated.
