- What?! It is more like a parent (who does the shopping & cooking, and
- is feeding him/her self & a spouse in addition to the children) saying,
- "here is a reasonable selection of food; eat what you want". It is
- also saying, "the family meals are not going to be held ransom to
- what we consider overly-picky eating". After a while, kids might
- realize that they are not going to constantly dictate family meals &
- actually learn to like something--my 5-yr old is now a big fan of
- fish, for instance, while he wouldn't even touch it a year ago. My
- daughter turned up her nose at brown rice at first but has now decided
- that it is indeed edible.
-
- My older two kids (especially the eldest) are extremely picky eaters.
- I wouldn't put an entire meal on the table that my daughter wouldn't
- eat, but we do, for example, serve fish & rice & brocolli knowning that
- she will only eat rice & maybe some brocolli if she is really hungry.
- My husband also, BTW, will cook up steak & rice & brocolli knowning
- that _I_ will eat only rice and brocolli.
-
- And then there's my youngest, who will eat anything up to and
- including the cat food, if we let him.
