- I have been reading the FAQ for misc.invest and came across a list of discount
- brokers and their commissions. Having an account with Charles Schwab, I was
- suprised to find out that they charged the highest commission 95% of the
- given examples (verified by my commission schedule from Schwab)!
-
- E-Trade, however, was the lowest 95% of the time ($0.015/share $35 min).
- I called them and they said that their prices are so low because of a
- very automated system they use. They only have 2 full-time brokers
- employed so sometimes you might not be able to talk to a human- no
- problem for me. That's why I use discount brokers.
-
- Anyway, have any of you used E-Trade for stock transactions? Any horror
- stories?
-
- Thanks for the info.
