  11. A friend of mine (abroad) has around $20k to invest.  He's looking for
  12. a hassle-free S&P500 index fund.  Ideally it should work as follows:

  14. a) on day 1, he turns the money into fund paper,
  15. b) he never ever hears from them again (i.e., no dividends, no junk mail,
  16.       no mail of any sort).
  17. c) at any point in time, it's easy for him to turn the mutual fund
  18.       paper back into money.
  19.  
  20. Steps #a and #c would be done from abroad, so the company should be
  21. conveniently setup to do such interactions.  He plans to hold this for
  22. a period of several years, so the company selling the paper should not
  23. be about to go bankrupt.

  25. Does any company come to mind?  Phone numbers and opinions will be highly
  26. appreciated.
