  13. From reading comments here, I would think that Prodigy was the Hitler of
  14. on-line services!  Before I subscribed to it, I was full of bad impressions
  15. gleaned from discussions here on the net and other places.

  22. Anyway, after a month of membership, I have to say a few things:

  24. The message areas on it suck!
  25. (who cares - thats what Internet is for!)

  27. Only 30 mail messages a month
  28. (only for Prodigy communications...everywhere else, use the Net)

  30. No downloadable software
  31. (use sumex-aim, or America Online)

  33. With these negative aspects, why use Prodigy at all?
  34. Mostly for updated news and sports highlights, and political info.
  35. During baseball season, Prodigy updates baseball box scores every five
  36. minutes.  As an avid fan, I may be on the service for an hour a night just
  37. checking scores.  With the lump sum of 15 bucks a month, I think I
  38. am getting a damn good value, especially since there is no
  39. alternative for this kind of information, unless I want to pay 6 dollars an
  40. hour on America Online or read about it in tommorrows paper.

  42. Rather than talking about what Prodigy isn't, remeber what it is.
  43. If the Internet is a Porche,  than Prodigy is a VW bug; inferior to
  44. the Porche in every way, except that the bug get better gas mileage.

  46. As for the shit about Prodigy reading your hard drive, I don't
  47. believe it. For one, this is so illegal that I can't imagine
  48. any reputable company engaging in it. 
  49. As for their censorship, sure it's wrong, but they also have the
  50. right to do it, since they are a prvate company. Anyway, if you
  51. have access to the Net, why read Prodigy's discussion areas at all?
