- Continuing this discussion on telemarketing...
-
- Last night I got a call soliciting money from an organization called the
- Police Officers Research Association (I think it was... definately had
- the word Research... so I was guessing they were doing a survey).
-
- The guy said they are the largest organization advocating rights for
- police officers... After I told him I knew several police officers,
- and none of them had ever mentioned the organization to me, they
- finally went away... but I'm curious... is this legit? If not, maybe
- a scam alert is called for.
-
- (as an aside)... for some reason this time of year (mid January) always
- brings a rash of these sorts of calls in our area. Maybe the new directory-
- by-phone-numbers comes out in January... we are not in the street-address
- directory because we unlisted our address with Pac Bell to prevent exactly
- this sort of thing.
