  15. Continuing this discussion on telemarketing...

  17. Last night I got a call soliciting money from an organization called the
  18. Police Officers Research Association (I think it was... definately had
  19. the word Research... so I was guessing they were doing a survey).

  21. The guy said they are the largest organization advocating rights for
  22. police officers... After I told him I knew several police officers,
  23. and none of them had ever mentioned the organization to me, they
  24. finally went away... but I'm curious... is this legit?  If not, maybe
  25. a scam alert is called for.

  27. (as an aside)... for some reason this time of year (mid January) always
  28. brings a rash of these sorts of calls in our area.  Maybe the new directory-
  29. by-phone-numbers comes out in January... we are not in the street-address
  30. directory because we unlisted our address with Pac Bell to prevent exactly
  31. this sort of thing.
