- Subject: AIX Function Equivalent To VM's "RETRIEVE" Function
- Lines: 22
-
- On a VM system we can set up a PFkey to recall any commands just
- entered *AND* modify them. AIX's 'history function' only lets me
- re-issue commands just entered *unmodified*.
-
- Is there a way of having AIX (or an xstation) put the entire contents
- of the command just entered back onto the command line *AND* then let
- me change it slightly. It would have to allow for 'backspacing' and
- 'forwardspacing' over the contents of the command line without having
- what is already there deleted or blanked out.
-
- For example I type in (because I am a programmer, not a typist :-)):
- "gp /usr/lpp/info/En_US/sys.sys"
- when I should have typed:
- "pg /usr/lpp/info/En_US/sys.sys"
-
- As it is now I have to retype the ENTIRE line without making any NEW
- typing errors. That's expecting an awful lot from me. 8-( With the
- RETRIEVE function on VM all I have to do is push a PFkey and then
- retype two letters - which is why I never needed to learned how to
- type well. :-)
