  14. I need some help recovering data on a tape. Here's what happened.

  16. A user was trying to read from a tape with tar data (and it wasn't write 
  17. protected), and inadvertently issues a tar cf /dev/tapeblah filea
  18. command. There was no file named "filea" but it looks like the header
  19. on the tape was overwritten anyway.

  21. We know the data is still on the tape, but it's inaccessible. I tried
  22. mt, dd, tarx,etc.. and tried to forward over the bad stuff and dump the
  23. data to no avail.

  25. Does anyone know how to recover the data or point me to a program that
  26. will?
