- We recently upgraded a network of 41 turbo machines (monos) to 3.0, and
- are having SERIOUS performance problems. When large numbers of people log
- in at the same time, it takes up to fifteen minutes for them to get
- Mathematica launched. This is at least 3 times slower than the same
- operation under 2.2.
-
- It seems that every time a user logs in, the Workspace does its scan of
- application directories, services, etc. Isn't it supposed to only do this
- the first time you log in, and cache it?
-
- Each machine is mounting a couple directories from a single file server:
- /Users and /LocalApps. The netinfo server is also the file server AND the
- mail server, but this was also the case under 2.2. There is also a clone
- netinfo server.
-
- Any ideas, hints, suggestions? We've been instructed to upgrade the
- network to 2.2 if we can't find a solution soon :-).
