- (1) How often do you *clean* your floppy drive(s)?
- (2) How *old* is the drive?
- (3) If it's very old (3+ years), you may want to replace it (approx. $60).

- A floppy drive should be cleaned every 10 hours of use. You can get a
- drive cleaning kit at your local computer store, radio shack, kmart, etc.

- The older drives were not as well made, and some of the brands were (and
- still are) just plain unrealiable. Try Teacs, Mitsumi, Toshiba...

- Off chance: Could be your *controller* is getting old...
- Off chance 2: I've seen this twice (in 8 years): dust build up inside
- the case (*large* amounts, Aunt Clara *would not* be happy...); clean
- out the dust; end of problems. Seems dust is a low-level
- semiconductor.
