  18. I have been trying to buy some kit for my PC (2 3.5" 2.88 Mbyte floppy
  19. drives, - one for me, one for a friend - and some other odds and ends).
  20. Because 2.88 Mbyte floppies are not cheap here in Europe (what is?),
  21. the usual rules apply; order from the US of A.

  23. I looked up the 4 cheapest suppliers of a Teac drive I could find, in
  24. Computer Shopper. Prices ranged between $80 and $90 (isn't it strange
  25. how some dealers want to charge up to $150 for the same thing?).

  27. That's where my problems started. Three of the suppliers will not ship to
  28. Europe. The fourth supplier will, but will not take a credit card for
  29. European orders. Whaaaaat? They'll take a money order. So I'm expected to
  30. troll to the bank, get a bad exchange rate (credit card orders are changed
  31. at a commercial rate), pay a commission, send a money order snail mail,
  32. probably have to insure the post as well. These aren't all small back-street
  33. outfits either, Midwest Micro is one of those unwilling to ship to Europe.

  35. Don't misunderstand. I'm not suggesting an American would get better
  36. service ordering from Europe. It's just that you guys are supposed to
  37. rip arms off to get an order! Oh well, another myth bites the dust.

  39. Having got that off my chest, the obvious question.

  41. Where can I get a 2.88 Mbyte 3.5" floppy at or below $90, where they will
  42. ship to Europe and will also take a credit card order? Above this price
  43. it's almost not worth ordering from the USA, taking shipping charges into
  44. account. I've gotta recoup my phone charges somehow!
