- Hello,
-
- I have trouble with my tape streamer. Both the CMS Jumbo 250MB and the
- Archive 5580 give me a headache if I place them in my computer
- (I80386-33DX cache), the last tape streamer also won't work in another
- computer, I tried). I tried a lot but I can't find what is coursing it
- (if I assume it is only one bad component). If I assume that it is a kind
- of timing problem then I can explain most of the errors. One of my
- problems, to be able to make the right conclusions, is that I don't know
- much about the communication between the software, floppy controller and
- the tape streamer.
- So what I want to know:
- When a piece of software formats a tape, what is the role of:
- * the software
- * floppy controller
- * tape streamer
- and, which adds what to the, software conclusion, if a block on the tape
- is bad.
-
- With respect to the above mentioned problems and my common interest:
- I'm also interested in information on "how to write a program for a QIC-80
- tape streamer". I already know that I can get the source code of the
- QIC-80 software from Linux.

- If you are so kind to reply, please do so by e-mail, since I don't read
- this area so often,
