  16. I have trouble with my tape streamer.  Both the CMS Jumbo 250MB and the
  17. Archive 5580 give me a headache if I place them in my computer
  18. (I80386-33DX cache), the last tape streamer also won't work in another
  19. computer, I tried).  I tried a lot but I can't find what is coursing it
  20. (if I assume it is only one bad component).  If I assume that it is a kind
  21. of timing problem then I can explain most of the errors.  One of my
  22. problems, to be able to make the right conclusions, is that I don't know
  23. much about the communication between the software, floppy controller and
  24. the tape streamer.
  25. So what I want to know:
  26. When a piece of software formats a tape, what is the role of:
  27. * the software
  28. * floppy controller
  29. * tape streamer
  30. and, which adds what to the, software conclusion, if a block on the tape
  31. is bad.

  33. With respect to the above mentioned problems and my common interest:
  34. I'm also interested in information on "how to write a program for a QIC-80
  35. tape streamer".  I already know that I can get the source code of the
  36. QIC-80 software from Linux.
