- I salvaged most of the functions after I replaced an EXPLODED capacitor. But
- I cannot get the floppy drives to function.
-
- I have a ST02 SCSI adapter controling two hard drives and two floppies. I
- have replaced the dead I/O card with an IDE-fDD/IO card (with the hard disk
- controls disabled). I have tested, in another machine that:
- - the floppy drives work
- - the SCSI's floppy functions do not
- I have also used my scanner to test out IRQ 3-7 to be operative.
-
- The floppy drives, under either IDE or SCSI control, will power up and spin
- up but I would get "drive not ready" errors if I do a simple "DIR".
-
- All other functions seem to be normal - except I notice just now that the
- real time clock would run slow if I turn the machine off(? This is unconfirmed)
- Anyway, I am wondering where I may next look for signs of damage on the mother
- board: near the ROM BIOS (where floppy control functions lie, true?), or where?
-
- I may have to get a new motherboard - at least my CPU and the SRAMs are OK.
-
- Any suggestions would be appreciated.
