  13. When I try to write 8 bit values to the VGA card for palette setup it seems 
  14. that only the first 6 bits are set (when you read back what you wrote the
  15. highest value I can find is 63).

  17. Is there some special procedure I must follow?  Is my video card too old?  Are
  18. there any books or code examples which do this from the port level?  I am not 
  19. using DOS so I can't use the BIOS.
