- Yesterday I posted a message about how I'd ordered a Gateway 66V
- November 6. Today would have been 11 weeks exactly.
- ^^^^^^^^
- As fate would have it, two hours after my posting, Federal Express
- brought the two long-coveted cow-spotted boxes to my front door!
- Was I excited? Does a bear sh*t in the woods? You bet I was!
-
- On unpacking it and turning it on, I had several pleasant surprises:
-
- 1. The documentation was very well done. I doubt any "mom and
- pop" computer store could do nearly as good a job.
-
- 2. The 15" Crystalscan was better than I'd expected. Good contrast
- and reasonable resolution, quite a flat screen (flatter than my NEC 3D
- that I'm using right now). The controls also allowed the image to
- be expanded to fill the screen from edge to edge, horizontally and
- vertically (which I *can't* do on my NEC).
-
- 3. It is also very quiet (I opted for the Tower case); the HD
- is a Caviar model (340 MB and only 1" thick!) and is obviously
- quiter than the Western Digital drives talked about in this newsgroup.
-
- Although I had to wait so long, I don't regret it, and recommend this
- machine. The only thing I would fault Gateway for is not being
- forthright in informing the customer that his/her special requests
- may delay delivery.
-
- But if you're willing to wait -- GO FOR IT!
