- Hello. I am trying to put together my first IBM system and I am
- looking for recommendations on what is "state of the art" right now
- as far as consumer-level sound and video. It seems that there are new
- cards released everyday and there are so many IBM magazines I don't know
- where to start. So if you have recommendations or know of a good magazine
- comparison sometime in the last few months, please email me.
-
- Oh yes, the motherboard I intend to use (unless someone convinces me other-
- wise) is a 386/486 with 1 localbus and some 8 and 16 bit slots (4 each?).
- Primary use for the machine will be running games and some sort of GUI (ie:
- X, Win, OS/2, whoever comes out on top). Also while I'm wasting bandwidth,
- what's the minimum hardware config for Linux and will Linux run X (pref OSF)?
-
- I know this is kind of vauge but I'm just looking for a push in the right
- direction. Thanks.
