- Side question on this issue: does anyone know what can cause
- the auto-boot to be _impossible_ to escape to the ISL prompt ?
-
- The situation is this: after an installation of an additional 1,3 GB
- HP disk on a 720 (HP-UX 8.05), the message saying "hit ESCAPE to stop
- auto-select" (or something similar) stopped showing up. Hitting
- escape doesn't bring up the ISL prompt. The right disk boots, but
- the choice is gone.
-
- I've talked to HP support; I think we agreed it must be a setting
- in non-vol. memory - which would take a boot error (like removing the
- boot disk) to allow the ISL menus to come back and fix. I'd appreciate
- any other suggestions.
-
- [Reading the man pages for pdc and isl, my guess is that I should
- try to run isl to fix the 'autosearch' setting, which is probably
- off. Can I do that on a running system ? I tried copying (with lifcp)
- /dev/dsk/6s0:ISL, but it didn't run ...]
