  14. All this talk about the SWE programs failing to teach adequate skills is 
  15. completely irrelevent. Name one field of study that really prepares the
  16. student for the "real world." MBA majors don't just "become" captains of
  17. industry. EE's don't just leave school and develop high end graphics boards.
  18. Physics majors don't just leave school and discover cold fusion. It is just
  19. not practical to expect school experience to be even close to the experience
  20. one gets while on the job.

  22. If there is a problem it is the lack of really experienced role models for
  23. new employees. SWE is not like any of the other engineering disciplines. 
  24. In the software industry individuals with 30 years experience are considered
  25. obsolete where in most other engineering disciplines someone with 30 years
  26. of experience is a gold mine of usefull pratical relevant information.
